Our Vision
Here at Harvest, we believe that God, by his very nature, is sent. Therefore we identify with the God who is sent by perceiving ourselves as a sent congregation, and not just a sending congregation.
We believe mission is innately the vocation of every christian, and hold our own membership to a ‘radical minimum standard’ of service, charity, and mission, both locally and abroad.
We are looking to become the kind of church that doesn’t just give hand-outs, but hand-ups; a church that is invested and embedded in communities of need; a church that doesn’t just draw people in but is also actively going out to the communities.
How this looks in practice continues to be developed; but for now, our values are:
- becoming bicultural (an ethnically diverse community that recognizes a valued immigrant heritage, beit as 1.5, 2nd, 3rd, or later generations)
- becoming missional (recognizing the sentness of our vocation as christians; that while some are uniquely called for global causes, all are called at least locally)
- becoming local (identifying our neighbor/hoods and redefining locality in the midst of a commuter culture)
